A/C LOW-PRESSURE SWITCH — IMPORTANT SYSTEM PROTECTION

A/C LOW-PRESSURE SWITCH — IMPORTANT SYSTEM PROTECTION

Your A/C low-pressure switch monitors the pressure on the low side of the refrigeration system. If pressure drops below a safe level, it can shut down the system to help protect the compressor and other major components.

✔ Monitors low-side refrigerant pressure
✔ Helps protect the compressor from damage
✔ Can stop operation during unsafe conditions
✔ May detect low refrigerant or restricted airflow
✔ Helps prevent evaporator-coil freezing
✔ Supports safe and reliable cooling

⚠️ When the low-pressure switch opens, your A/C may stop cooling or repeatedly turn on and off. Possible causes include low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty filter, a frozen evaporator coil, restricted airflow, or a system blockage.

The switch should never be bypassed. A licensed HVAC technician should inspect the complete system and identify the condition causing the pressure to drop.
